IN THE COMMUNITY

TOYS FOR TOTS: We organize donations and distribute Christmas gifts to needy children in cooperation with the Marines and Montgomery County service agencies. http://www.toysfortots.org/default.aspx

BLOCK PARTIES: We join with nearby apartment communities to make connections with the residents through serving snow cones and cotton candy, painting faces, making balloon animals, playing games and a lot more.  

SOUPER BOWL OF CARING: We collect canned goods and non-perishable food items that will help fight hunger in our local community through organizations such as Olney Help, Mid-County United Ministries, and City Gate Ministries. http://www.souperbowl.org/

NATIONAL CENTER FOR CHILDREN AND FAMILES: We partner with this local organization through fund-raisers and other venues to assist them in creating total, healthy living environments for vulnerable children, youth and families. http://www.nccf-cares.org/

STEPPING STONES SHELTER: We partner with this local organization which provides support to homeless families by organizing SOH youth and adults to help serve meals and provide facility cleaning assistancehttp://steppingstonesshelter.org/

FOOD AND FRIENDS: We partner with this local organization by organizing SOH youth and adults to help deliver specialized meals and groceries to men, women, and children living with HIV/AIDS, cancer, and other life challenging illnesses. http://www.foodandfriends.org/

MICAH 6:8: This team of SOH members assists those in our local community who are in need of household cleaning and repairs, or moving household items.

 

IN THE NATION

DISASTER RELIEF: We partner with various national organizations by sending funds and teams from SOH to assist after natural disasters: with CBF to rebuild a community center in Homestead, Florida after Hurricane Andrew, several times with Habitat for Humanity to rebuild in New Orleans after Hurricane Katrina, and with the DCBC to rebuild in New Jersey after Hurricane Sandy. 

REBUILDING TOGETHER: We have sent teams for the past 10 years to provide extensive home renovations, rehabilitation, and modification services to low-income homeowners locally and across the country. 

MISSIONS FUNDING: We give to the Cooperative Baptist Fellowship and American Baptist Churches for specific mission projects and denominational outreaches. 

 

IN THE WORLD

OPERATION CHRISTMAS CHILD: We have collected, packed, and shipped shoebox gifts around Christmastime for the past 10 years that are sent to needy children in communities around the world. http://www.samaritanspurse.org/what-we-do/operation-christmas-child/

MISSIONARIES: We support denominational efforts in international work through the CBF and ABC and directly support missionaries in Germany with Church Resource Ministries, New Zealand with Chosen People Ministry, and in Kenya with Africa Inland Missions.

BRAZIL MISSIONS: We have sent teams for 10 years to local communities in Brazil to build chapels, hold outreach events for children and adults, and provide medical, food, and clothing assistance.

KENYA MISSIONS: We have sent a team to build houses with Habitat for Humanity in Kisii, Kenya.

PHILIPPINE MISSIONS: We have sent teams to work with the poor, provide disaster relief, and have an evangelical outreach to local communities in the Philippines. 

HUMANITARIAN AID: We have sent funds to assist with relief after the Indonesian Tsunami and for clean water projects in Malawi, Haiti, and India.
